George Karvounides is the founder and CEO of Karvo Companies, Inc. His compelling story begins when he arrived to the United States as a young, non-English speaking Greek immigrant with big visions of creating his own company. Working hard from his teenage years to adulthood where he gained experience in Akron tire plants and another paving company, George started Karvo Companies in 1989. During these initial years, he worked tirelessly at nights at his kitchen table with an expanding young family and no money or projects, but only a dream to keep him motivated. George’s vision quickly became a reality through hard work, excellent performance, and a commitment to honoring his word through every interaction he had with colleagues who entrusted him with just a handshake. George’s commitment to hard work, strong ethics and commitment to excellence in starting the company, remains a guiding light by which Karvo continues to operate from to this day.
Yianni Karvounides is the second generation of a family-owned construction company started by his immigrant father, George Karvounides. Yianni embarked upon his construction career as soon as he could walk and was riding pavers before he was even in Kindergarten. While attending the University of Akron where he graduated with a business degree in 2011, Yianni worked in the field obtaining first-hand experience on the job while learning the ins and outs of the business. Now, as President of Karvo Companies, Inc., Yianni presides over the Company and remains committed to safety, growth and excellence in all aspects of the business. He continues the Karvounides dedication to quality, responsiveness and strong work ethic. Yianni is an active leader in his community focused on “paying it forward” and helping others.
I saw the company working on 306 & Washington at a large intersection. Everything was very well organized & traffic was flowing smoothly. Seems like a very professional company! Glad they’re repairing this intersection – very needed! Keep up the great work!!
